Work with a Layered Photoshop File?

When you press Command-E (PC: Ctrl-E) to take a layered Photoshop file back over to Photoshop (see previous page), you’ll need to choose Edit Original in the dialog you see above that’s going to pop up before your image jumps over there. That’s the trick to having the image open with its layers intact in Photoshop. Otherwise, if you choose either of the other two options, the image will open just like it looked in Lightroom, as a flattened image with no layers. So, Lightroom does support layered Photoshop files, but it does it behind the scenes (Lightroom doesn’t have a Layers feature, so there’s no way to display the layers in that layered Photoshop file). But when you choose Edit Original, then all the layers in that image will now appear when it opens in Photoshop.
