Use a Quick Collection (and What Are They For)?

To add an image you have selected to your Quick Collection, just press the letter B and it’s added (as long as you haven’t set a different target collection, see page 41). To see the images in your Quick Collection, either go to the Catalog panel (in the Library module’s left side Panels area) and click on Quick Collection, or choose Quick Collection from the pop-up menu at the top left of the Filmstrip along the bottom. The Quick Collection is just a temporary place to keep some images—maybe you just need a collection for an hour or so, and then you’re done with it. This one’s already set up with a keyboard shortcut to send images there, so it’s helpful for sorting, or grabbing an image or two from different searches, or for anything where you know you’ll have to delete the collection later, so why not just use a temporary collection? If, for some reason, you decide to turn the images inside your Quick Collection into a regular collection, then you can just Right-click on Quick Collection in the Catalog panel, and choose Save Quick Collection. This brings up a dialog where you can name your new collection (there’s a checkbox there if you want to clear out the images from the Quick Collection once your new collection is saved). Note: If you have previously set a collection as the target collection, you’ll need to Right-click on your Quick Collection and choose Set as Target Collection.
